plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose
Other than the average length of the participants' shorts and a couple changes in bars, this thing hasn't changed much since 1983. Simple concept. You run or walk (or something) 6 miles, you visit 6 bars, and you drink 6 cold beers. You can do it fast, slow, something in between, you can improvise, and there are really only a few basic rules.
when?
May 10, 2013: pre-registration closed at 11:55PM; no tshirts and other extras for those not pre-registered
May 16, 2013: packet pickup (for those preregistered) at Le Bon Temps Roule (5PM-9PM); La Cocinita food truck, beer specials, never-before giveaways, and free admission to Soul Rebels Brass Band concert afterward
May 17, 2013: packet pickup (for those preregistered) at Le Bon Temps Roule starting at lunchtime (11AM); La Cocinita food truck and more beer specials
Late registration starts at 4PM at Le Bon Temps.
Race begins at 6:05PM sharp! Make sure you have a full beer (we'll give you one) for the start.
Oysters shucked after the race.Beer specials and La Cocinita food truck will meet your needs.
Awards begin in the back bar at 8PM.
Watermelon sacrifice sometime before 9PM.
Band begins after watermelon sacrifice.
Go home when you're no longer any fun.

Visiting the bars in this order, drinking your free ABITA BEER at each bar, and getting to the finish line gets you the coveted FINISHER'S KOOZIE.
Afterward, some weird old guys will shout into a megaphone and make you do things that you'll regret for a while, but if you're one of the "winners", you can expect a custom-crafted metal creation from local artist LUIS COLMENARES. These awards have gone over so well that the idea has been jocked by other clubs and races.
DIRTY SOUTH/PURPLE MONKEY DESIGNS will assist in a new look for the shirts this year. Guaranteed - creative and a must-have.
Last year we gave you a teaser with a Vic 'n Nat'ly print. This year we have Vance Kelly on board doing a play on the "6 6 6" motif. Vance does a lot of artwork for metal bands and events - he's one of the best. Everyone will get a digital print of Vance's 2013 Barathon poster.
Bottom line - a very good band and a new approach toward tshirts for 2013. Get on board.
